Supreme Court eviction order displaces forest communities in Tamil Nadu tiger reserve
A humanitarian crisis is unfolding in 98 forest hamlets across Tamil Nadu's Meghamalai hills following a Supreme Court eviction order targeting "encroachers" in the Srivilliputhur-Meghamalai Tiger Reserve.
The court's directive aims to protect the fragile ecology of the reserve, but has triggered displacement of forest-dwelling communities who depend on the region for their livelihoods.
