Eight months after SC order on menstrual hygiene, states report major gaps in implementation

Eight months after the Supreme Court issued a mandate on menstrual hygiene in January, states have reported significant implementation gaps, according to a Centre affidavit filed before the court.
The apex court's order required all schools to install gender-segregated toilets with adequate water supply, provide free sanitary pads to students, and establish environment-friendly waste-disposal systems for menstrual waste management.
Despite the directive, states have struggled to fully comply with these requirements, raising concerns about the slow pace of implementation across the country's school infrastructure.
