Supreme Court directs Manipur and Assam to establish courts for 2023 violence cases

The Supreme Court has directed the governments of Manipur and Assam to establish courts specifically for cases arising from the 2023 violence incidents in both states. The bench also instructed the registrar general of the respective high courts to file a status report on the implementation before the next hearing.

The order aims to expedite judicial proceedings related to the communal violence that occurred in the two northeastern states last year.
