SC angry over magistrate's notice to student in CJP protest case

The Supreme Court has expressed strong displeasure over a Greater Noida magistrate issuing a notice to a student involved in a Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
A lawyer informed Chief Justice Suri Kant's three-judge bench on Wednesday that the notice was issued at police request, though it has since been withdrawn. The CJI questioned how an executive magistrate could issue such a notice when the top court had already directed that no punitive action be taken against students. Justice Suri Kant stated the order was unambiguous and demanded clarification from the magistrate.
The notice was issued to Gautam Buddha University student Akshat Tripathi, directing him to furnish a personal bond of five lakh rupees for maintaining peace. The order conflicted with the Supreme Court's September 1 directive halting all FIRs against students involved in the protests.
