Supreme Court Refuses To Stay Trial Of IAS Officer Pooja Singhal

The Supreme Court has declined to stay the trial of IAS officer Pooja Singhal in a case filed by the Enforcement Directorate. The court rejected arguments challenging the sanction granted for prosecution under the new criminal procedure law.
During proceedings, the ED maintained that under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), there exists a provision for "automatic deemed sanction," addressing objections raised by the defence regarding the grant of sanction for prosecution.
