SC agrees to hear plea against facial recognition use on NEET protesters

The Supreme Court has agreed to take up a plea filed by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament A.A. Rahim challenging the use of facial recognition technology and covert surveillance on peaceful protesters.
Rahim contended that deploying such technology on protesters was unconstitutional. The plea relates to protests against NEET-UG, the national-level entrance examination for medical courses.
The Court's decision to hear the matter marks a significant intervention in concerns around surveillance practices and fundamental rights during public demonstrations.
