SC warns EC on unilateral decisions, refuses interim order against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

The Supreme Court heard two petitions seeking the suspension of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar but declined to grant an interim order against him. The court, however, made clear that if the Election Commission's functioning is found to be irregular or in violation of statutory procedures, it would restrain any unilateral decisions. The bench indicated it possesses powers under law to intervene in such cases, signalling a warning to the electoral body.
