India doesn't allow monopoly, says Scindia on Musk's oligarch remark over Starlink

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia responded to Elon Musk's recent remarks characterising India's satellite internet policy as favouring oligarchs, stating that the country does not permit monopolies in the sector.
Scindia said three companies already hold licences and are prepared to commence operations once the government finalises spectrum charges and the firms meet the required security conditions. The minister's statement comes amid Musk's criticism of India's approach to licensing Starlink, his satellite internet venture.
The government has been working on regulatory frameworks to enable satellite-based broadband services in India. Scindia's remarks emphasise India's commitment to fostering competition while ensuring security protocols are adhered to by all operators entering the market.
