Sebi notifies new settlement rule with revised formula and fast-track route
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has unveiled fresh regulations that overhaul how settlement amounts for securities violations are calculated. The new framework eliminates double counting of unjust gains during settlement assessments, making the process more transparent and equitable.
The regulator has also introduced a fast-track settlement route for cases where the settlement amount is below ₹10 lakh. This expedited process aims to resolve smaller violations swiftly while maintaining regulatory standards.
These changes are expected to improve efficiency in handling securities-related infractions and provide clarity to market participants on settlement procedures. The new rules represent Sebi's effort to streamline its enforcement mechanisms while ensuring fair treatment of violators.
