Shillong locality honours first West Bengal CM among Meghalaya's trailblazers

A locality in Shillong has honoured Dr. B.C. Roy, the first Chief Minister of West Bengal, recognising his role as a trailblazer in Indian politics and governance.
The Rilbong area also pays tribute to J.J.M. Nichols-Roy, credited as the architect of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, which provides special administrative provisions for certain tribal areas in Northeast India.
B.B. Lyngdoh, regarded as the pioneer of coalition politics in India, is similarly commemorated in the locality. The recognition reflects the region's acknowledgement of these historical figures' contributions to constitutional development and political evolution in the country.
