Sion Road Overbridge Used by Public Before Official Launch, BMC Seals Entrances

The long-awaited Sion Road Overbridge in Mumbai remains officially unopened to the public, yet viral social media videos have captured pedestrians and motorcyclists using the newly reconstructed bridge. Content creator Isaac Nazareth posted a video walking across the completed stretch, claiming it could open within a week. He noted the bridge's importance as a connector between Sion, the Bandra-Kurla Complex, and Kurla, and highlighted its impact on Dharavi residents who faced navigation difficulties during reconstruction.
Another video by user Aniket Pawar on Thursday showed bikers and pedestrians actively using the bridge. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation confirmed the bridge is undergoing final checks and finishing work ahead of inauguration.
However, in a fresh update posted Saturday, Pawar showed the bridge entrances sealed with welded barriers by BMC authorities. No official opening date has been announced, and the barriers suggest efforts to restrict public access until formal clearance is granted.
