India faces market access barrier with China, exports rerouted via Vietnam: Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has flagged India's limited access to the Chinese market as a key barrier to boosting bilateral exports. She noted that many Indian goods are being rerouted through Vietnam before reaching China, rather than entering directly.
Sitharaman pointed to specific sectors affected by this constraint, including buffalo meat and pharmaceuticals, where China has denied direct market access to Indian producers. She underscored the disparity in trade figures between the two nations, linking it to structural barriers on the Chinese side.
The comments reflect ongoing trade tensions between India and China, with market access restrictions limiting opportunities for Indian exporters to capitalize on bilateral commerce.
