Sitharaman urges PSBs to strengthen youth banking outreach
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has urged public sector banks to intensify efforts to attract young customers through a focused 'Banking for Youth' campaign beginning October 2. The initiative aims to build banking habits among the youth segment ahead of anticipated demand growth.
Sitharaman also emphasized the need for banks to improve the quality of priority sector lending and expand their reach. She stressed that credit provision to farmers and MSMEs remains a key government priority, and financing strategies must be tailored to local agricultural conditions to ensure effectiveness.
