Six BJP ministers relieved of organisational duties in party reshuffle

The West Bengal BJP announced a major organisational overhaul on Friday, appointing fresh faces across its state wing, including new leadership for its Mahila, Yuva and OBC morchas as well as district presidents and state secretaries. The reshuffle, made in line with the 'one individual, one post' principle, relieved six ministers of their organisational responsibilities to focus on their administrative commitments. The ministers relieved were Tapas Roy, Jagannath Chattopadhyay, Agnimitra Paul, Dipak Burman, Shankar Ghosh and Indranil Khan, while they retained their ministerial positions.
Among key appointments, actor-cum-politician Anjana Basu was named state president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, replacing Phalguni Patra who became state vice president. Amta MLA Amit Samanta replaced Indranil Khan as president of the BJP Yuva Morcha. Locket Chatterjee and Bishnupur MP Soumitra Khan were appointed state general secretaries, while Darjeeling MP Raju Bista became vice-president. Jadavpur MLA Sharbari Mukherjee was removed from her position as state secretary despite not holding a ministerial portfolio.
The reshuffle followed a high-level coordination meeting between BJP and RSS leaders in New Delhi to review the political setup in West Bengal. Samik Bhattacharya remained state president and Amitabha Chakraborty remained general secretary (organisation), while Satish Dhand was removed from his post as co-general secretary (organisation).
