Spiritual Wisdom Key to Lasting Happiness, Says Gurudev

A spiritual leader recounts meeting a retired ex-president who lamented that his former waiter no longer obeyed him instantly, attributing the change to loss of status. The leader responded that such feelings stem from the mind alone, noting that happiness derived from talent, skills, or social position is fleeting.
According to the spiritual guide, intellectual understanding of happiness is insufficient when negative emotions overwhelm a person. Medication and forced positive thinking offer only temporary relief, he argues, and can lead to dependence rather than genuine healing.
The leader emphasises that only spiritual wisdom and self-inquiry can provide lasting freedom from despair. External markers of success—wealth, admiration, and status—cannot address inner discontent. He advocates meditation, silence, and specific breathing techniques like Sudarshan Kriya as means to access what he describes as inner stillness and deeper consciousness, thereby addressing negativity at its root.
