Sri Lankan Players Apologize to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Over On-Field Clash

Senior Sri Lankan cricketers have privately contacted Indian youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to express regret over a heated clash during a Tri-Nation A series match in Dambulla. Though these players were not part of the Sri Lanka A squad, they know Sooryavanshi through IPL connections and felt the situation could have been handled better. The matter was also discussed in the Sri Lankan dressing room, with some players believing an apology was warranted.
The incident erupted after India's Super Over victory against Sri Lanka A. Reports indicate Sri Lankan player Vishen Halambage had targeted Sooryavanshi with verbal sledging since the series opener on June 9. During Monday's match, Halambage allegedly made disparaging remarks as Sooryavanshi batted in the Super Over, suggesting he "go home" and that "this is not the IPL." The tension escalated when Halambage moved aggressively toward Sooryavanshi, also confronting Indian batter Suryansh Shedge.
