SRM Law School to host 8th National Tamil Moot Court Competition in 2026

SRM School of Law, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, has announced the 8th National Tamil Moot Court Competition 2026, a national-level advocacy competition to be conducted entirely in the Tamil language. The event will bring together law students from across India to engage with contemporary legal issues.
The moot proposition centres on a fictional inter-State river water dispute involving the Sempon River, raising questions on water allocation, large-scale water infrastructure, environmental impact, forest and wildlife conservation, and sustainable development. The proposition also engages with the Public Trust Doctrine, Intergenerational Equity, and constitutional and environmental law provisions.
A distinctive feature of the competition is that all pleadings, written submissions and oral arguments shall be conducted in Tamil. The SRM School of Law, established in 2014, offers three-year and five-year integrated law programmes and postgraduate legal education, focusing on experiential legal education through moot courts and practical training.
