Student, youth wing activists arrested during Chennai anti-CEC protests

Student and youth activists were arrested during anti-CEC (Common Entrance Exam) protests in Chennai on Wednesday. Members of the All India Students Federation (AISF) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF) were detained on Anna Salai, while over 30 supporters of the Communist Party of India (CPI) were held in the Besant Nagar area.

The protests appear to be against the proposed Common Entrance Exam system. During the demonstrations, one protester sustained a head injury and was subsequently taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Police action followed as the protests intensified across multiple locations in the city. The arrests mark growing student and political opposition to the CEC initiative in Tamil Nadu.
