SC to Award Compensation if Delhi Protests Harm Traders, Daily-Wagers

The Supreme Court has indicated willingness to grant compensation to traders and daily-wage workers if ongoing protests in Delhi adversely affect their livelihoods during the festive season.
The court expressed concern about the plight of small businesses and informal sector workers facing economic hardship due to protest-related disruptions. The bench noted that while the right to protest is protected, the impact on vulnerable sections of society must be considered.
The court's statement comes as various protests continue in the national capital, raising questions about balancing constitutional rights with livelihood protection during a commercially significant period for traders and service providers.
