Supreme Court Dismisses PIL Against Rajasthan, UP Restrictions on Journalists in Schools

The Supreme Court has dismissed a public interest litigation challenging curbs imposed by Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh education departments on the entry of journalists, YouTubers, social-media personalities and civil-society members into government schools.
A bench of Justices P S Narasimha and Alok Aradhe dismissed the PIL filed by Priya Mishra on September 1, stating it was not inclined to entertain the writ petition filed under Article 32 of the Constitution.
Rajasthan's August 16 circular and Uttar Pradesh's August 19 order both require prior written permission from school principals before outsiders can enter premises or conduct photography, videography, interviews, audio recording or live-streaming activities.
