Supreme Court case challenging EC immunity law stalled for 11 months without government response

A Supreme Court petition challenging the immunity granted to the Election Commission has made little progress over 11 months, with neither the Centre nor the ECI filing responses despite a notice issued by a bench led by CJI Surya Kant in January.
The case has been listed seven times but remains at an early stage. The petitioner has raised concerns about the EC's immunity from judicial scrutiny, but the government and election body have not yet formally responded to the challenge.
The delay raises questions about the pace of judicial proceedings on a matter of constitutional significance regarding electoral governance and institutional accountability.
