Supreme Court Dismisses Plea Against Hanging, Says Centre Can Review Execution Method

The Supreme Court dismissed a petition challenging the existing method of execution by hanging. The court said the Centre has the authority to review the current execution procedure through an expert body to examine possible alternatives.
The bench noted that while the petition raised concerns about the hanging method, any changes to execution procedures would require government intervention and expert examination. The court left it to the Centre to decide whether to constitute a panel to assess other methods.
