Supreme Court sets minimum standards for ICU operations across India

The Supreme Court has mandated minimum standards for the establishment and operation of intensive care units (ICUs) across the country. The directive aims to ensure uniform quality of critical care facilities in all hospitals.
Several states informed the court that setting up Level-1 ICUs in hospitals located in remote and hilly regions would require additional time. The court is overseeing implementation of these standards to strengthen healthcare infrastructure nationwide.
