Supreme Court to examine Bar Council's authority over legal education

The Supreme Court has decided to examine the Bar Council of India's authority to regulate legal education. The Bench noted that while the BCI could issue general guidelines on matters such as law course duration, it lacked the power to dictate the specifics of legal education content and curriculum.
The court's scrutiny comes as the judiciary seeks to clarify the boundaries of regulatory power between the BCI and educational institutions in shaping legal studies in India.
