Supreme Court flags Gurugram's rain-triggered infrastructure collapse, contrasts with Greater Noida's long-term planning

The Supreme Court on Tuesday highlighted Gurugram's vulnerability to monsoon disruptions, attributing the infrastructure breakdowns to insufficient investment in the city's development. The bench noted that Greater Noida, by contrast, had been planned with a 40-year vision.
The observations came during hearing of a petition challenging Karnataka's Premium Floor Area Ratio scheme, which permits developers to purchase additional construction rights by paying premium charges. The court emphasized that such schemes must not be used to regularize illegal construction.
