Supreme Court rebukes UP Police for 'cover-up job' in criminal investigation

The Supreme Court has expressed strong displeasure with the Uttar Pradesh Police over conduct of a criminal investigation, accusing them of a 'cover-up job'. The top court described the handling as nonsense that must cease immediately.

The bench ordered the police officers involved to provide explanations for the irregularities identified in the investigation at the next hearing. The court found the probe to be biased and flagged multiple procedural lapses in how the case was handled.
