Supreme Court rejects Mahua Moitra's plea to avoid police appearance in hate speech case

The Supreme Court refused to entertain a plea by TMC Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra seeking exemption from appearing before police in connection with a hate speech case. Moitra's counsel argued that she had a legal right to appear virtually before the investigating authorities.
The bench made oral observations, noting that as a Member of Parliament who has entered politics, Moitra should comply with the police summons. The court dismissed her petition, effectively requiring her physical appearance before police for questioning.
