Supreme Court seeks Centre's response on alternative venue for Delhi protests

The Supreme Court heard a petition seeking an alternative venue for protests currently held at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. The petitioner argued that the site is no longer suitable for demonstrations, citing accessibility issues and inadequate medical and essential facilities.
The court directed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to obtain government instructions and file a response. The petitioner's counsel referenced former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's proposed march, warning that large-scale protests could recreate disturbances similar to those on July 20.
The court clarified that maintaining law and order remains the administration's responsibility. The court deferred further consideration pending the government's response in the next hearing.
