Supreme Court challenged on UPI transaction charges

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Wednesday challenging the notification imposing a 0.4 per cent Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on UPI payments exceeding ₹2,000.

The challenge targets the recent regulatory decision to levy transaction charges on higher-value digital payments. The matter has now reached the apex court for judicial review.
