Surat Cop Risks Life On Seventh-Floor Ledge To Save Man In Dramatic Rescue Operation

A police constable in Surat is receiving widespread appreciation after carrying out a daring rescue that helped save a man during a life-threatening emergency inside a residential tower.
The incident unfolded in the city's Laskana locality when authorities received an urgent distress call from a woman seeking help for her husband. Initial information suggested that the man was in serious condition inside their apartment, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Police personnel, firefighters and medical teams rushed to the building, only to discover that the apartment was inaccessible because it had been locked from the inside. With time running out, officers were forced to think beyond conventional rescue methods.
As emergency responders searched for a way inside, Constable Shailesh Chudasama and his team coordinated with residents in a neighbouring apartment. They devised a plan to reach the flat through an exterior access point rather than wait for the locked door to be opened.
In a risky move, the constable carefully navigated the building's outer safety structure several floors above the ground before gaining entry into the apartment. Once inside, he located the man and secured the situation while other officers prepared for evacuation.
Recalling the tense moments, Chudasama said, "The door was locked from inside. We managed to force it open and found that the man had consumed a poisonous substance. I immediately restrained him and removed the remaining substance from his possession, but he had already ingested some of it and was vomiting."
Recognising the urgency of the situation, the police team moved quickly to transport the man for medical treatment.
"We quickly brought him downstairs and, without waiting for the ambulance, started taking him to a hospital in Kamrej. The ambulance met us on the way, and he was immediately shifted for emergency treatment," the constable said.
The man, who works in Surat's diamond industry, survived after receiving timely medical attention and is currently undergoing treatment.
