Tamil Nadu Assembly conducts smooth Governor's Address under new TVK government protocol

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Thursday completed the Governor's Address without disruption following a procedural change by the newly elected TVK-led government of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. The National Anthem was played both at the beginning and end of proceedings, breaking with the previous convention.
The change addresses past tensions during the DMK regime, when Governor R N Ravi objected to the Speaker's decision to render the National Anthem only at the session's conclusion. Ravi had insisted on the anthem being played at both the beginning and end, leading to conflicts. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar welcomed the new arrangement.
