Madras High Court grants Tamil Nadu government four more weeks to revise bus fares

The Madras High Court has given the Tamil Nadu government an additional four weeks to decide on revising bus fares for state transport services. The court noted that fares were last fixed in 2018 at ₹0.58 per kilometre when diesel cost ₹67.50 per litre.
With diesel prices now around ₹100 per litre, the court acknowledged the need for a fare revision to reflect changed operational costs. The extension allows the government time to finalise its decision on the new fare structure.
