Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Set For First Delhi Visit, Likely To Meet PM Modi And Gandhi Leaders

Vijay is set to visit New Delhi on Wednesday for the first time since becoming Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with sources indicating that he is likely to hold meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as senior Congress leaders during the trip.
According to sources, Vijay will leave from Chennai on Wednesday morning, while senior Tamil Nadu government officials have been overseeing preparations for the high-profile visit to the national capital.
Sources said arrangements have been made for discussions between Vijay and PM Modi during the Delhi visit. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is also expected to meet Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi amid growing political interest around his national outreach after coming to power in the state.
During his visit, Vijay is also scheduled to inaugurate a statue of Tamil poet-saint Thiruvalluvar installed by the Tamil Nadu government at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
The Delhi trip comes only weeks after Vijay took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu following a landmark victory by his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, in the Assembly elections.
The victory marked a major political shift in Tamil Nadu, ending decades of dominance by the DMK and AIADMK in state politics.
TVK emerged as the single-largest party in the elections and later formed the government with support from Congress, Left parties, VCK and IUML.
After assuming office, Vijay retained several key departments including Home, Police, Municipal Administration, Women Welfare and Special Programme Implementation.
The new Tamil Nadu government also announced the creation of a separate Artificial Intelligence department at the cabinet level, becoming one of the first states in India to introduce a dedicated AI portfolio.
