Tamil Nadu demands permanent freeze on Lok Sabha seats; Opposition boycotts Vijay's meeting

Tamil Nadu has sought a permanent freeze on the allocation of Lok Sabha seats to the state, citing demographic shifts and historical underrepresentation. The demand was raised at a meeting convened by state leadership, though major Opposition parties boycotted the session, signalling discord over the approach.
The state has long argued that its share of parliamentary seats does not reflect its current population or political significance. A permanent freeze would require constitutional amendment and central government approval, making it a matter of both state and national concern.
