Tamil Nadu pollution board eases scrutiny of Tata's Apple iPhone plant
Tamil Nadu's pollution control authority had issued a warning to Tata, threatening forced shutdown of its Apple iPhone parts manufacturing plant unless the company explained why government inspections found wastewater discharge contaminating open wells in adjacent agricultural lands.
The pollution board has now dropped its intensified scrutiny of the facility. The plant, which produces components for Apple iPhones, had faced scrutiny over environmental violations affecting farming communities nearby.
