By-polls for 2 Tamil Nadu and 1 Puducherry seats scheduled for October 6

By-elections will be conducted on October 6 for two Tamil Nadu assembly seats and one Puducherry seat. Madurantakam and Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu are among six seats vacated after their AIADMK-elected representatives switched to the ruling TVK party. The other vacated seats include Perundurai, Karur, Viralimalai and Ambasamudram.

The defections followed the general assembly elections, with multiple AIADMK legislators shifting their allegiance to join the governing TVK, triggering the by-polls.
