Vijay government's secretariat plan in Pattinapakkam faces local resistance

The Tamil Nadu government's plan to build a new secretariat in Pattinapakkam, a coastal area south of Chennai, is facing resistance from local communities. Pattinapakkam is a densely populated stretch along the coast that houses residential colonies, schools and traditional fishing settlements.
Fisherfolk and residents have begun opposing the project, citing concerns over displacement and impact on livelihoods. The area's mixed composition of urban and traditional communities has become a focal point of contention over the proposed development.
