Taratala Warehouse Collapse: WB Govt Announces ₹10 Lakh Aid to Victims' Families

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday met the families of those who lost their lives and those injured in the Taratala warehouse collapse at the state secretariat, Nabanna, and announced financial assistance along with additional support measures for the affected families.
Under the relief package, the state government handed over ₹10 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹1 lakh each to those who were injured in the June 24 warehouse collapse. Addressing the victims' families, the Chief Minister said, "No amount of compensation can make up for the loss of a life. Those injured, if they think that they are still in pain, can consult with Health Minister Sharadwat Mukherjee and the medicines will be given from the state. The government will lend its support."
During the interaction, family members also raised concerns about their future. One of the relatives of a deceased victim requested employment assistance, to which Adhikari assured that the government would extend support in accordance with the applicable provisions.
The Chief Minister further announced that the state government would bear the educational expenses of the children of those who died in the tragedy, describing it as part of the government's commitment to stand by the affected families in the long term.
Reiterating the government's stand on accountability, Adhikari said those responsible for the warehouse collapse would face stringent action. He assured the families that the investigation would continue and that no one found responsible for the June 24 incident would be spared.
