Ex-Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal surrenders in Goa court over 2013 rape case

Former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal has surrendered before a Goa court in connection with a 2013 rape case. The surrender follows a Supreme Court directive ordering him to do so within two weeks after he challenged the high court's verdict.

The Goa high court on August 6 overturned Tejpal's acquittal by a sessions court in 2021 and convicted him of the offence. The Supreme Court's order means Tejpal must now begin serving his sentence, pending any further relief in his ongoing appeal.
