Tawang selected as venue for tourism meet; China invited

The government is set to hold the International Tourism Mart in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, from October 27 to November 1. The event, organized by the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, will bring together delegates from around 20 countries. Delegates from China have been invited to the annual event, which is held by rotation in one of the North-Eastern states.
The 2025 edition of the International Tourism Mart was held in Sikkim and was attended by government representatives and industry stakeholders from over 19 countries. While government representatives from China have not traditionally attended the tourism event, private tour operators from China have participated in previous editions. At the 2018 edition in Agartala, over 60 tour operator delegates from different countries participated, including those from Bangladesh, Australia, Canada, China and France. Invitations for the Tawang event have been sent to all participating countries and industry delegations, with participation confirmations expected closer to the event date.
Union Ministers and state ministers will attend the five-day event in Tawang. The selection of Tawang as the venue comes weeks after the government identified 27 places and features in Arunachal Pradesh by standard place and feature names on official Survey of India maps for accurate recognition and public awareness.
