Telegram failed to act against illegal channels, Centre tells Delhi High Court
The Centre informed the Delhi High Court that Telegram did not take proactive measures against illegal and suspicious channels operating on its platform. During the hearing, the government highlighted technical differences between Telegram and other messaging apps, noting that a single Telegram account can create up to 40 bots, compared to one bot per user on WhatsApp.
The submission underscores concerns about how Telegram's architecture may facilitate misuse for illegal activities. The government's argument suggests that Telegram's bot creation capabilities lack sufficient safeguards to prevent abuse.
