Shashi Tharoor backs activists detained during flag march, slams Delhi Police

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has voiced support for Abhijit Deepke and AISF president Neha Bora, who were detained by Delhi Police during a Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) flag march event. Tharoor posted on social media that carrying the national flag on a public road is not a crime, demanding that Delhi Police provide clarification to the nation.
CJP stated that Deepke has been taken to an undisclosed location and contact with him has been lost. The organisation alleged he is being denied access to lawyers. CJP questioned why the government is treating youth like terrorists, asserting that all citizens are entitled to constitutional rights and protections.
Other opposition leaders including Mamata Banerjee and M.K. Stalin have also called for their immediate release. Delhi Police's Additional DCP Rajiv Ranjan responded that no specific complaints have been filed and cited an established flag code requiring the national flag to be hoisted with utmost respect.
