TMC Crisis Deepens As Yusuf Pathan, Shatrughan Sinha Among 20 MPs Linked To Rebel Camp

The internal turmoil within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) intensified on Wednesday as reports emerged that a large group of party MPs has aligned with a dissident faction, raising fresh questions about the future of the party after its recent political setbacks in West Bengal.
The crisis has widened rapidly following the departure of senior leaders from the party. Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev resigned from the Upper House and the party, days after veteran parliamentarian Sukhendu Sekhar Roy also stepped down, delivering back-to-back blows to the Mamata Banerjee-led organisation.
Sources indicate that nearly 20 Lok Sabha MPs have now been linked to the rebel camp. Among the prominent names being associated with the faction are Yusuf Pathan, Shatrughan Sinha, Saayoni Ghosh, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Mala Roy, Satabdi Roy, Rachana Banerjee, June Malia and several other parliamentarians from across West Bengal.
The growing list of MPs reportedly supporting the dissident group has fuelled speculation about a major realignment within Bengal politics. Political observers believe the developments could significantly impact the party's strength in Parliament and its organisational structure in the state.
Adding to the intrigue, members of the rebel faction are said to have held discussions with senior BJP leaders, including Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. While no formal political decision has been announced, the meetings have sparked widespread speculation about a possible understanding between the rebel group and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The rebels are reportedly weighing their options carefully as any future move could be influenced by the anti-defection provisions under the Constitution. Political analysts note that the strength of the dissident camp may play a crucial role in determining its next course of action.
The unrest is not confined to Parliament. A parallel power struggle has also surfaced in the West Bengal Assembly, where a faction led by expelled MLA Ritabrata Banerjee has reportedly secured the support of a large number of legislators. The development has further highlighted the challenges facing the TMC leadership in maintaining party unity.
