TMC factions propose alternative symbols as EC freezes party name and original symbol

The Election Commission has barred both factions of the All India Trinamool Congress from using the party name and its reserved "Flowers and Grass" symbol following an internal split.
In response, the warring TMC factions have submitted alternative proposals to the poll body. These include new party names and symbol suggestions such as a cricket bat and a footballer, as each group seeks distinct electoral recognition.
The move follows escalating tensions within West Bengal's ruling party, with the EC intervention forcing both sides to rebrand ahead of electoral contests.
