TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Resigns From Party Posts Citing “Mental Conflict”, Raises Concerns Over Internal Functioning

Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has stepped down from all party responsibilities after what she described as prolonged “mental conflict and deep reflection”, marking a notable development within the West Bengal ruling party.
In a resignation letter addressed to state party chief Subrata Bakshi, the Barasat MP stated that her decision comes after careful consideration, though she clarified that she is not leaving the All India Trinamool Congress and will continue as a grassroots member working for the people of Bengal.
Her move comes shortly after she attended a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and was also provided Y-category security by the Centre, developments that have fuelled political discussion in the state.
In her letter, Kakoli reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with several aspects of the party’s functioning, referring to multiple controversies that have shaped West Bengal politics in recent years. She also cited incidents including major administrative disputes, recruitment-related allegations, and the RG Kar Medical College case, stating that such events had a strong moral and emotional impact on her.
She further raised concerns over internal organisational dynamics, alleging that external advisory influences had gained increasing importance in decision-making processes within the party structure.
