TMC Rebels Choose NCPI Route to Escape Party Control and Align with NDA

A faction of Trinamool Congress (TMC) rebels has chosen to merge with the NCPI (National Congress Party - India), departing from the Eknath Shinde-style defection playbook. This strategic move allows them to retain parliamentary representation while breaking away from Kolkata-based party control.
The rebels secured multiple advantages through the NCPI merger: parliamentary survival, organizational independence from TMC leadership, and a clearer pathway toward potential NDA alignment. The approach differs from the Maharashtra model, where Shinde directly led legislators into the BJP fold, instead offering the dissidents a separate political identity while maintaining their legislative positions.
