Tamil Nadu police arrest Rajasthan man for circulating AI-deepfake video impersonating CM Stalin

The Tamil Nadu CB-CID has arrested a man from Rajasthan for creating and circulating artificial intelligence-generated deepfake videos that impersonated Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, police said.

The accused and his associates used the fabricated videos to approach the public seeking financial assistance, directing victims to contact a specific WhatsApp number. The scam leveraged deepfake technology to lend credibility to fraudulent solicitation.

The arrest marks a growing concern over misuse of AI-generated content for financial fraud and impersonation of public figures in the state.
