Tribunals Reforms Act, 2026 comes into force

The Ministry of Law and Justice notified the commencement of the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2026 on 25 August 2026. The legislation, which received Presidential assent on 13 August, replaces the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2021.
The new framework aims to improve efficiency, independence, transparency and uniformity across India's tribunal system. It establishes comprehensive provisions governing tribunal administration, appointments, service conditions, performance evaluation and institutional oversight.
The Act seeks to strengthen tribunal functioning through greater consistency and accountability while enhancing access to justice and administrative efficiency.
