Trump Backs India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor as Alternative Route

US President Donald Trump has expressed strong backing for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), stating the region requires alternative energy and connectivity pathways given current tensions in West Asia. Trump connected the initiative to efforts aimed at redirecting Middle Eastern energy infrastructure away from Iranian control points.
IMEC was announced at the 2023 G20 Summit in New Delhi and seeks to integrate India, the Gulf states, and Europe through shipping, railway, energy, and digital networks. The corridor has encountered implementation delays and geopolitical obstacles stemming from regional conflicts.
