TVK Government Outlines Reform Agenda Under CM Vijay in Maiden Assembly Address

Chennai: Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's government presented its political and administrative roadmap through the Governor's Address at the opening of the 17th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Thursday. The speech outlined priorities including fiscal consolidation, assertion of state rights, and educational overhaul.
The government criticized the previous DMK administration for fiscal mismanagement, citing a debt burden that had nearly doubled to ₹10 lakh crore and a widening revenue deficit. The address framed the TVK government as focused on repairing the state's fiscal structure and restoring transparency in revenue collection and public spending.
The government also sought to position TVK as the inheritor of Tamil Nadu's Dravidian-social justice legacy, signaling continuity with the state's political tradition.
